The Hollow Places

After her recent divorce and the looming prospect of moving back in with her parents, Carrot is desperate for a change and a place to stay. Luckily, her Uncle Earl, the proprietor of the quirky Wonder Museum, offers her a room in exchange for helping catalog the museum's exhibits. Naturally, she accepts. The Wonder Museum is a treasure trove of taxidermy, shrunken heads, and a mix of peculiar items, but nothing about it unnerves Carrot, as it has been a familiar part of her upbringing. What unsettles her, however, is a newly created hole in one of the museum's walls that reveals a mysterious corridor. Given the museum's limited space, the corridor's existence is puzzling, as are the concrete bunker at the end of it and the bizarre islands that lie beyond the bunker’s doors. Whispering, unseen entities linger in the willow trees, observing her movements. Carrot finds herself in a bizarre, terrifying realm, scattered with leftovers from their meals and their grotesque experiments. Even if she manages to find her way back home, the presence of these entities remains an inescapable threat.
