For over a year, the girls at a quarantined school have been anxiously awaiting a remedy. Initially, the teachers succumb one by one, and soon the students experience unsettling transformations: their bodies begin to change into something unfamiliar and eerie due to a mysterious toxin. Isolated from the outside world on an island, three close friends find themselves surrounded by a perilous and untamed forest. Recently, one of them has been tempted to venture beyond the fence into its depths. "Wild Girls," penned by American author Rory Power, delves into this chilling body horror narrative. Getty, one of the students, bears a striking transformation; her eye lies permanently closed from an unexpected infection, causing an agonizing sensation underneath as if something undulates there. Despite her suffering, she considers herself fortunate compared to her peers who have endured far worse—missing limbs or, tragically, their lives. The quarantine has left no girl at Raxter School unscathed, either physically or mentally. Getty and her friends are determined to survive and cling to the hope of a cure for their enigmatic affliction.
