Księga Pamięci poświęcona studentom Uniwersytetu Warszawskiego poległym i zmarłym w czasie walk o niepodległość

The book is a groundbreaking publication on the Polish market, offering a collection of biographies for 128 University of Warsaw students who perished during the struggle for Poland's independence and its borders. Throughout its over two-century history, there have been times when the university's academic community had to demonstrate valor not only in scholarly pursuits but also on the battlefield. Until now, there has been a lack of comprehensive studies focusing on the involvement of these students in the independence efforts. This work seeks to bridge that gap by providing an initial examination of their contributions. Through extensive research in the University of Warsaw Archives and the Central Military Archive, along with an analysis of contemporary press sources, the authors have meticulously verified and expanded upon a pre-war list of students who sacrificed their lives for their country between 1918 and 1921. These individuals' names were inscribed on a memorial plaque unveiled in 1924 at the Kazimierzowski Palace. While the list is not yet exhaustive, it serves as a valuable foundation for further scholarly research on the topic.
