Patrycja Kubicha is a distinguished linguist with a PhD, having graduated from both English and German philology programs. Currently, she serves as a research and teaching faculty member at the Institute of Linguistics and Literary Studies within the Faculty of Humanities at Jan Kochanowski University in Kielce. It is also where she completed her philological studies and successfully defended her doctoral dissertation. Her primary research interest lies in the field of linguistic pragmatics, and she has authored numerous articles focusing on the pragmatic analysis of selected texts within the political discourse. This monograph is an enhanced version of Kubicha's doctoral thesis, offering an analysis of chosen speeches related to Brexit, delivered by politicians from British and German political parties. These speeches occurred during parliamentary debates in the UK and Germany, exploring whether thematic and linguistic similarities are influenced more by the political stance of the parties or by their national context. In the UK, the research examined speeches from the Conservative Party (center-right), the Labour Party (center-left), and the Democratic Unionist Party (right-wing). For Germany, speeches from the Christian Democratic Union and Christian Social Union (center-right), the Social Democratic Party of Germany (center-left), and the Alternative for Germany (far-right) were included. Kubicha's study applied Dan Sperber and Deirdre Wilson's relevance theory, utilizing Laurence Anthony's AntConc software alongside Microsoft Excel to support her analysis.
