State of Wonder

Standing on the riverbank, people watched as an enigmatic scientist ventured into the intricate waterways and immense anacondas of Brazil's Rio Negro. Dr. Annick Swenson’s research, particularly a groundbreaking drug that could transform women's lives, is enveloped in secrecy. Despite the growing impatience of her investors, Dr. Swenson keeps her findings to herself. To uncover her progress, Anders Eckman, a calm yet diligent lab researcher, is dispatched into the depths of the rainforest. However, all that returns is a terse letter announcing his unexpected death. Left without answers, Marina Singh, Anders' colleague and a former student of the formidable Dr. Swenson, becomes the last resort. Driven by the pleas from Anders's wife, unwilling to believe her husband's fate, Marina leaves the wintry landscape of Minnesota. She follows her friend's path into the depths of South America, determined to find Dr. Swenson and reveal the truth hidden within the remote jungle tribes. Marina does not yet realize that the ancient jungle—filled with murky waters and whispering grasses—holds dangers and enticements she cannot yet fathom. Although no longer a student, it remains to be seen if Marina has acquired the knowledge and resilience needed to confront what lies ahead.
