Kate Harrison - sylwetka autora
From a young age, I had a genuine passion for reading and writing. Some of my cherished childhood authors were Roald Dahl, Susan Cooper, Helen Cresswell, and most notably, Noel Streatfeild. When I was around eight or nine years old, I frequently stayed home from school due to illness, which led to me engrossing myself in my mother's collection of Jean Plaidy novels and She magazines, providing me with an abundant source of life lessons. My early literary attempts were nothing if not ambitious. Among them was an intricately illustrated rhyming tale about a globe-trotting rabbit, ambitious plans for a musical charting the history of Britain, and a four-part thriller set in Paris.
Upon finishing school, I was determined to pursue a career that allowed me to utilize my writing passion, although I never anticipated becoming a novelist. Traditional career guidance offered little insight into the path I envisioned. Eschewing university, I dove directly into journalism, beginning with a news agency where I primarily reported for national tabloids. This led me to the BBC, where I initially worked as a reporter in regional news in Bristol and Birmingham, eventually transitioning to a producer role for Newsround in London. My career later included stints at Panorama and other investigative or consumer programs, employing hidden cameras akin to those found in the Secret Shopper books. My television career concluded with a position that involved developing innovative program ideas, which was incredibly enjoyable.
