Ethnic Policy in Contemporary East Central European Countries

The editors of this volume, developed as part of a project by the National Center for Science, regard the over two decades of regional experience as a prime opportunity to evaluate and critique the ethnic policies of East Central European countries. Recognizing the challenges inherent in such assessments, the contributors to this collection have endeavored to offer a nuanced evaluation of both the achievements and shortcomings of individual nations and the region as a whole. This comprehensive undertaking encompasses fundamental, methodologically sound analyses and reflections that introduce fresh hypotheses and insights. At the core of this work are detailed studies that delve into the unique characteristics of ethnic policies in specific countries. The ultimate aim of this publication is to furnish a significant amount of knowledge on a critical, selected aspect of the development of East Central Europe—a region still in the midst of establishing its identity, serving as a focal point for research and innovative solutions amid systemic transformations.
