Seventeen-year-old Alice has spent most of her life traveling with her mother, always managing to stay just ahead of the peculiar misfortunes that seem to chase them. However, their unstable existence takes a dark turn when Alice’s grandmother, a solitary writer known for her haunting fairy tales, passes away unexpectedly at her estate, the Hazel Wood. It is then that Alice realizes the depths of their unsettling luck.

Tragedy strikes when Alice's mother gets abducted by a mysterious figure, claiming ties to the eerie and fantastical worlds depicted in her grandmother’s stories. Before disappearing, Alice's mother leaves behind a cryptic warning: STAY AWAY FROM THE HAZEL WOOD.

Despite this ominous caution, Alice is compelled to uncover the truth and rescue her mother. Her journey begins at the Hazel Wood and ultimately leads her into the sinister realm where her grandmother's chilling tales once began.
