Roger Bacon - sylwetka autora
An English Franciscan from the 13th century, known as doctor mirabilis, which means "wonderful teacher" in Latin, was a medieval philosopher regarded as an extreme empiricist. He is often described as one of the earliest European advocates of the modern scientific method. He opposed the speculative resolution of philosophical issues, emphasizing the importance of experimental research into phenomena using mathematics. He conducted numerous experiments and crafted instruments for his studies. He anticipated many inventions that were realized only centuries later, such as mechanical vehicles and optical devices, highlighting the significance of human inventiveness. However, in line with his era, he also included mystical experiences and the "primeval revelation" given to Jewish patriarchs and then to Greek philosophers as part of empirical experience.
