A Tiny Bit Marvellous

The Battles family is anything but ideal, capturing the essence of real-life family dynamics with all their imperfections. Mo, a child psychologist by profession, finds herself ironically challenged when it comes to understanding her own kids. Her daughter Dora is on the verge of reaching adulthood, with dreams of heading off to university driving her ambitions. Meanwhile, her son Peter is completely absorbed in his passion for Oscar Wilde. The father, on the other hand, seems to be living on the sidelines, not fully engaging with the family's everyday chaos. In her debut novel, Dawn French skillfully portrays this modern family, each member entrenched in their own separate realities, all inching toward a collective familial upheaval.
