This book is the result of a research project carried out by the Jagiellonian Club (Klub Jagielloński) team from December 2011 to June 2012. The initiative to evaluate Poland's first presidency of the EU Council emerged with the conclusion of the "Monitor of the Polish Presidency 2011" project. This project was previously undertaken by the then Department of European Policies of the Jagiellonian Club. The main aims were twofold: first, to monitor the Polish government's preparations for taking the chair of the Council of the European Union, and second, to provide education on EU institutions and policies. The follow-up investigation of the Polish presidency was conducted using the Jagiellonian Club's resources and a research team comprised of students and doctoral candidates from universities in Kraków, supervised by Dr. hab. Krzysztof Szczerski.
