Oleksandr Irvanets’ latest stories are set against the backdrop of Volyn's landscapes and legends. True to the style of Pidskarbiy "Bubabu," they are full of imaginative blends and thrilling adventures. The narrative is populated with both living and dead characters, including Ukrainians, Germans, Poles, French, and Russians, all contributing to the book’s central tale. Among them are also zombakis and Tyburtsius with his three ragged children. This diverse international cast is split into factions fighting for good and evil. The plot hinges on a time loop that allows these characters to meet in extraordinary ways. The collection features a mix of vicissitudes, odd anecdotes, and a melodrama centered around the VKL Volyn cats-legends. Additionally, it includes short sketches infused with a burlesque flair that, despite their fantastical nature, provide an insightful reflection of reality.
