Karl Schütz - sylwetka autora

After earning his degree in art history and archaeology from the University of Vienna, Karl Schütz began his career at the Gemäldegalerie within Vienna's Kunsthistorisches Museum. He initially took on the role of curator in 1972 and later advanced to serve as the museum's director from 1990 until 2011. Schütz's academic pursuits have been especially focused on Netherlandish and Flemish painting, German artwork from the early 1500s, portrait painting associated with the courts, and the historical development of the Gemäldegalerie collection.
