The discussed monograph falls within the realm of diachronic corpus linguistics and emerges from research aimed at identifying novel corpus tools to address the ambivalence found in parahypotactic sentences in Old English. These investigative efforts culminated in the development of a research framework that enables the systematic searching, categorizing, describing, and automatic analysis of these structures using a specified language corpus. Historically, various definitions of parahypotaxis have existed, none of which associated it directly with ambivalence. However, this monograph crucially makes that connection. The author introduces an initial classification of ambivalent parahypotactic sentences and presents a corpus created specifically for their comprehensive analysis. The third, fourth, and fifth chapters explore the different forms of parahypotaxis, namely SIPH, MIPH, and EPH. Readers of Ireneusz Kida's work will gain insights into the significant implications of treating parahypotactic sentences as either main (understood as independent or coordinate) or subordinate clauses.
