The book offers the first in-depth exploration of the intricate dynamics in Polish-Belarusian relations placed within a wider international framework. Following the political upheavals and systemic transitions in Central and Eastern Europe post-1989, Poland began establishing diplomatic ties with nations that emerged independent after the dissolution of the Soviet Union, alongside those of the former Eastern bloc. Relations with Belarus, however, did not initially take precedence. These relations experienced various phases defined by fluctuating efforts at dialogue, often interrupted by downturns and mutual distrust. The period between 2020 and 2023 was notably tense, marked by Belarus, under Russian influence, instigating a migration crisis on the Polish border, and subsequently engaging in the Kremlin's conflict against Ukraine.
