Thirteen-year-old Ashley Rayburn is a bright and optimistic girl with a challenging past. With her father in prison, she finds herself bouncing from one foster home to another, never settling down for long. Social workers are at a loss with Ashley - not due to any misbehavior on her part, but because unfortunate events seem to follow her. However, her circumstances take a turn for the better when she meets new foster parents willing to provide her with love, along with a supportive best friend and a chance to explore her love for painting. Just as things start to look up, Ashley accidentally discovers a box of unique body paints that endow her with superhero powers. Elated at first, her excitement soon turns into a challenge when a government agency demands the return of these paints. Ashley must navigate tough choices to protect her newfound family and savor the experience of belonging.
