My name is Ella, and I'm genuinely amazed at how many of you share my enthusiasm for cooking and enjoying the natural foods that truly nourish our bodies. My blogging journey began as a response to a rather uncommon condition I was diagnosed with in September 2011—Postural Tachycardia Syndrome. This illness significantly impacted my life: walking down the street became a struggle, I was sleeping for 16 hours per day, suffering from persistent heart palpitations, chronic pain, unbearable digestive issues, and constant headaches, among other symptoms. It was far from enjoyable! For about six months, I leaned on conventional medicine, but it barely alleviated my symptoms, leaving me bedridden nearly all the time. Encouraged to seek alternative solutions, I delved into holistic and natural healing methods, leading me to adopt a whole foods, plant-based diet. I eliminated meat, dairy, sugar, gluten, processed foods, and all kinds of chemicals and additives from my diet overnight, which was quite a drastic shift considering that previously, my meals mostly consisted of indulgent treats like Ben and Jerry's ice cream, chocolate, peanut butter and jelly, sweets, cereal, and pasta—I was quite the sugar addict!
Everything you see on my platform is the result of my personal journey of discovery and recovery. I'm self-taught and certainly not a professional chef; everything I've learned comes from a lot of trial and error! In May 2013, I graduated from St Andrews with a Master's degree in Art History, and now I'm back in London, involved in various exciting projects. Earlier this year, I launched a successful app, which is continuously being updated (it's accessible via the iTunes store and Google Play store). I'm also teaching cooking classes, hosting supper and brunch clubs, and currently training to become a naturopathic nutritionist at the College of Naturopathic Medicine.
Many people are interested in what inspires me, often checking out other authors like Melissa Hemsley, Yotam Ottolenghi, Natasha Corrett, and others who also explore culinary creativity. Additionally, if you're an author aiming to enhance your author pages, you can update your bibliography and submit new or existing images and biographies via Author Central. For those interested in my work, my book "Deliciously Ella: Awesome Ingredients, Incredible Food That You and Your Body Will Love" is available in hardcover for £7.99.
On social media, I frequently share insights and tips. For instance, I don't consume couscous because it contains gluten, and I recommend pure organic maple syrup, which is available at local health food stores. For those looking for tahini-free options, hummus made without tahini or cashew butter makes an excellent substitute. I often share new recipes and culinary tips through my blog, app, and book, emphasizing creativity in the kitchen. From energy bites to pantry essentials, I strive to inspire healthier eating.
