This monograph offers an insightful exploration of the transformations that have shaped family farm ownership in Poland over the past 70 years, starting from the aftermath of World War II. During this period, Poland witnessed profound social changes, such as the dismantling of the large landowner class and the shifting of the state border westward, ultimately leading to a predominantly ethnically homogeneous society. The primary focus of the monograph is to explore how family farms have managed to persist despite numerous adverse challenges and influences. It reflects on the strategies employed by these farms to endure, echoing the themes of resistance articulated in James C. Scott's 1990 work, "Domination and the Arts of Resistance." This analysis is grounded in sociological research conducted as part of the MAESTRO project, funded by the National Science Center of Poland. Through this lens, the study illuminates the resilience and adaptability of family farms amidst evolving socio-political landscapes.
