Security i Indo-Pacific and development of Oceania: Commonwealth's presence in the region

The book aims to enlighten a broad audience, particularly in Europe, about the functioning of the security framework across the Indian and Pacific Oceans. It identifies key players, outlines the primary challenges, and explores strategies to enhance the development of remote, small, and emerging ocean states across various levels. It addresses a significant gap in both Polish and European literature, providing essential analysis on Indo-Pacific security and international relations in the area. The subtitle, "Commonwealth's presence in the region," highlights the United Kingdom's critical historical and current influence on political, economic, legal, and defense matters pertinent to the Indian Ocean and Oceania, particularly the South Pacific. Following decolonization, former British colonies and dominions continue to maintain strong connections with the UK, primarily through Commonwealth membership or economic ties, along with shared Western cultural values and legal traditions.The book is the collaborative work of 15 experts, enthusiasts of the Indian Ocean and the Pacific, affiliated with the Poland-based Australia, New Zealand, Oceania Research Association (ANZORA). This publication is a product of the 13th ANZORA International Conference held on December 10, 2021, at the Warsaw School of Economics. The contributing authors come from diverse academic fields, including political science, law, anthropology, history, and security studies, and they represent countries such as Poland, Norway, Italy, China, Canada, India, Ireland, Portugal, and the United States.
