An extraordinary example is Ivaylo, a Bulgarian swineherd who, within a year, managed to repel the Mongols, kill the Tsar, and wed his widow. Some insurrections, however, have less ambitious goals: Spartacus primarily wished to return home to his mother. (An ingenious plan, although Downing Street refused the delivery.)
