This book represents the culmination of over four decades of dedicated research into the intricacies of architectural forms and their spatial configurations. Originating in the 1970s, the research initially led to my thesis on the spatial structure of architecture, which laid out the foundational methods for describing, analyzing, and organizing spatial layouts. This seminal work was published in 1979 in the Scientific Bulletin of the Technical University in Gliwice (Zeszyty naukowe Politechniki Śląskiej w Gliwicach) and marked my entry as an assistant professor.
Over the years, I have delved deeper into these themes, exploring the universal aspects of architectural space with varying degrees of intensity. This continuous endeavor has yielded several publications, including articles and conference presentations, between 2004 and 2009 (Niezabitowski). The central focus on the fundamental structure of space in architecture has remained constant, although it has been enriched by new methodologies and perspectives along the way.
