Critical flow at pressurized and ferr-surface conduits

The author presents a new approach to understanding critical flow conditions, which can be applied universally to both pressurized and free-surface flows, regardless of channel shape. The traditional use of the Darcy-Weisbach equation, which calculates head loss along a circular pipe or open channel, faces challenges when it comes to the Moody diagram. The requirement to know the relative roughness of the channel beforehand poses a significant limitation, as this surface property information is usually not readily available in practical scenarios. Addressing this challenge, the author introduces innovative solutions accompanied by illustrative diagrams found within the book. The work is filled with factual insights, providing groundbreaking material that has never been published before. This contribution by Prof. Dr. Hab. Pawel Rowinski, associated with the Institute of Geophysics at the Polish Academy of Sciences and serving as the Vice-President of the Polish Academy of Sciences, offers a fresh and impactful perspective in the field.
