BOKER TOV, which means "good day" in Hebrew, is a well-known name for hummus bars and coffee shops in Israel. This inspired us to adopt the name for our Sunday brunches at the Warsaw JCC, highlighting our focus on serving hummus over traditional dishes like stuffed goose gizzard. From the beginning, our menu featured vibrant, vegetarian dishes. We also secured a kosher certification from Rabbi Schudrich, ensuring that our meals complied with kashrut laws, allowing Jews from all observance levels to partake in our communal meals. For six years, up until the pandemic's disruption, our kosher Sunday milk bar at the JCC welcomed a diverse crowd. Everyone from struggling students to Oscar winners, hairdressers to philosophers, and individuals of various faiths and beliefs—Jews, Muslims, Christians, Buddhists, atheists, and Jehovah's Witnesses—gathered to enjoy communal plates reminiscent of a traditional country wedding. We accumulated numerous anecdotes and crafted dozens of delightful recipes, which we’re excited to share with you. Feel free to adapt them, contribute your stories, or add your personal touches. This is your BOOK FOR WRITING. We look forward to welcoming you too, someday, at our abundantly set table! BOKER TOV JCC Warsaw
