American author, born in 1943, known for co-creating popular series like "Animorphs" and "Everworld." He's been happily married to K. A. Applegate for many years and is a father of two. Much of his life has been spent on the move. Growing up in a military family, he attended ten schools across five states and three more in France. Even as an adult, he rarely stayed put in one place for long. Part of his motivation to become a writer stemmed from its flexibility, allowing for frequent relocation. His biggest dreams involve a year-long journey around the world, visiting all continents—including Antarctica—and having a Google chip implanted in his brain. Currently, he resides in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, with his family and a sizeable collection of pets.

Michael Grant describes his work routine vividly: mostly, he writes. Tap, tap, tap. He often sits on the porch, sipping coffee, chain-smoking, and typing away. Tap, tap, tap. His writing process typically involves using two fingers. Tap. Occasionally, he steps out for more coffee. Tap. When particularly inspired, he might even use a third finger! He has published around 150 young adult books under eleven different names, including the "Animorphs" series (co-authored with his beloved wife, K. A. Applegate), "Everworld," "Boyfriends/Girlfriends," and "Sweet Valley High." His works span from school romances to heavily armed aliens and Bengal tigers. A wide range indeed. After a brief hiatus from writing to try different ventures, he's back at it. His current project is the "Gone" series, consisting of six volumes.
