A renowned British military historian dedicated over two decades (1952 - 1975) to service in the Royal Armoured Corps, including notable units like the 17th/21st Lancers, Westminster Dragoons, and the Royal Tank Regiment. He is esteemed for both his extensive expertise and clear presentation, coupled with his exceptional literary skills. As the author of numerous books primarily focusing on the history of modern warfare, his works have gained acclaim on both sides of the Atlantic and have been translated into multiple languages. During the Falklands War and the Gulf War, he served as a correspondent for the Liverpool Echo. In addition to his writing, he collaborates with Discovery and Sky Television. He lives with his wife in Lancashire.
