The Ministry of Unladylike Activity

In 1940, as the world teeters on the edge of chaos, the British government has established a covert agency known as the Ministry of Unladylike Activity, dedicated to training spies. Amidst this backdrop of intrigue and danger, we meet May Wong, a spirited and determined young girl eager to play her part in ending the war. Her motivation is clear: a longing to return to her home in Hong Kong and escape the confines of her school, Deepdean, which she finds utterly exasperating. May is confident in her potential as a spy, believing that adults often fail to recognize the capabilities of children like her. Undeterred by rejection from the Ministry, May and her friend Eric decide to pursue their own mission. Posing as evacuees, they journey to Elysium Hall, the opulent residence of the Verey family. Among the household's members is the pretentious and theatrical Nuala. Convinced that a member of the Verey family is leaking secrets to the Germans, May and Eric embark on a quest to unmask the traitor, hoping this discovery will earn them a place in the Ministry. However, Elysium Hall conceals more mysteries than the duo anticipated. Their investigation takes a darker turn when they find themselves entangled in a case of murder, revealing secrets far beyond their expectations.
