Her brothers, David and Vlad, share similar feelings, as they navigate their new surroundings. Together, they engage in sorting humanitarian aid for Ukraine, exploring the world around them, and testing their limits. Their thoughts often drift back to memories of home—their DIM, parents, familiar "panels," and the yard's acacias. The local Italian community treats the displaced Ukrainians kindly, and Valya even forms a bond with a "best" friend. However, the narrative questions whether genuine friendship can truly reside behind superficial kindness and candid conversations. In a state of vulnerability, the risk of misplaced trust looms large. This intricate tale delves into the wounds inflicted by war, the importance of setting personal boundaries, and the challenges of bullying and relationships.
