The publication offers a comprehensive examination of the graphic collection amassed by Jan Ponętowski, housed in the Jagiellonian Library in Cracow. This work delves deeply into the collection both as a complete entity and through its individual components, shedding light on the broader, yet still insufficiently explored, processes involved in collecting, organizing, and interpreting graphic art in late 16th-century Europe. The author illuminates the biography of Jan Ponętowski, a figure whose life has not been extensively documented, and provides a detailed analysis of his collection, which serves as a valuable resource for understanding the collecting practices of the era. The dual-part catalogue integrated into this study brings to scholarly attention numerous rare and previously unrecognized compositions, as well as the condition of graphic works by renowned engravers and publishers, including Philips Galle, Hendrick Goltzius, Antonio Lafreri, Gerard de Jode, Hieronymus Cock, and Volcxken Diericx, along with members of the Sadeler, Collaert, and Wierix families. This publication is spread across three volumes.
