Ziauddin Sardar - sylwetka autora
A prominent Pakistani Muslim theologian, writer, and author, Ziauddin Sardar resides in the United Kingdom. Though he was born in the Punjab region of Pakistan, his upbringing took place in England. His academic path led him to City University in London and King Abdulaziz University in Jeddah. In 1982, he embarked on his journalism career by joining London Weekend TV as a reporter for the "Eastern Eye" program. During the late 1980s, Sardar spent some time in Malaysia.
He is actively engaged as a member of the Advisory Board of the Muslim Institute in London and contributes as an editor to the quarterly journal "Critical Muslim." Additionally, he writes columns for "The Times." Sardar has penned approximately 40 books focused on the subject of Islam, establishing himself as one of Britain's leading intellectuals.
Some of his notable works include "Science, Technology and Development in the Muslim World" (1977), "Information and the Muslim World: A Strategy for the Twenty-first Century" (1988), and "Postmodernism and the Other: New Imperialism of Western Culture" (1997). Together with M.W. Davies, he authored "Why Do People Hate America?" (2003), which was published in Polish as "Dlaczego ludzie nienawidzą Ameryki?" by Wydawnictwo Post in 2005, and "The No Nonsense Guide to Islam" (2004), available in Polish as "Islam" by PIW in 2005. His book "Mecca: The Sacred City" (2014) was also translated into Polish as "Mekka. Święte miasto" by Wydawnictwo Czarne in 2016.
