Over the years, I've worn many professional hats, including those of an accountant, substitute teacher, caterer, and financial analyst for a prominent defense firm. I've also ventured into real estate as a broker, led aerobics classes, worked as a freelance writer, and taken care of the various creatures my family brings home.

In June 2008, after two decades dedicated to writing, I received a life-changing call from Deborah Nemeth, an editor at Samhain Publishing. My reaction was not of exuberant dancing or shouting; instead, I fell to my knees, expressed my gratitude to God, and burst into tears. The emotional wave didn’t stop there—I called my parents to share the news, shedding more tears, and my husband also got the tearful update. Even my best friend and talented writer, C.C. Wiley, shared in the emotional moment with me, as I soaked her in tears of joy. This was undoubtedly one of my most emotional and memorable days.

The takeaway from my journey? Dare to dream big, put in the hard work, persist without giving up, and keep a box of tissues handy for when your dreams come to fruition. You might just need them.
