Andrew Nagorski - sylwetka autora
An American journalist and writer of Polish descent, Andrew Nagorski serves as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Polish-American Freedom Foundation. Born in Scotland to Polish parents who remained in exile after World War II, his family moved to the United States a few years later. He pursued his studies in history at Amherst College and spent some time at Jagiellonian University in the late 1960s. During his time with "Newsweek," he managed offices in Hong Kong, Moscow, Rome, Bonn, Warsaw, and Berlin. As an expert on Eastern European affairs, he covered significant events like the rise of Solidarity. He gained notable attention in 1982 when his independent, incisive commentaries led to his expulsion from the Soviet Union. Nagorski is a recipient of numerous awards and the author of bestselling books, including "The Greatest Battle," "Hitlerland," and "The Nazi Hunters." In 2009, he was awarded the Bene Merito Honorary Badge. His writings consist of both informative non-fiction works and historical analyses. Among his literary achievements is the novel "Last Stop Vienna" from 2003, which is set in the 1920s and examines the emergence of Nazism, imagining a scenario where Adolf Hitler dies in the early 1930s.
