The Ukrainian liberation movement of the 20th century, particularly the activities of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN) and the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA), remains an underexplored aspect of history that is crucial to understanding the emergence of an independent Ukraine. The phrase "We were born at a great hour..." underscores the significance of this period. It is essential to engage in a thorough discussion supported by factual knowledge in order for society to impartially evaluate the actions of Ukrainian nationalists. The publication, Historical Truth, has compiled insightful articles by renowned scholars, journalists, public figures, and former dissidents, which examine the roles of the OUN and UPA.This book provides insights into several key topics, such as the lives and leadership of both prominent and ordinary members involved in the resistance movement, the evolution of the underground resistance from the 1930s through the 1950s, the structural and organizational dynamics of the OUN and UPA, and the day-to-day existence of their soldiers.
