The Prisoner's Wife

Their romance poses a grave danger, yet it might be their only lifeline. Czechoslovakia, 1944. Under the cover of darkness, a farm girl and a British soldier make their way through deserted villages. Bill and Izabela, secretly wedded and fleeing, are on a mission to find Izabela's brother and father, who are members of the Czech resistance. Aware that their fortune could change at any moment, they are soon captured by the German forces, facing the imminent threat of separation. However, they have braced themselves for such a moment. Izabela, by cutting her hair and feigning muteness, manages to pass as a British soldier. Together, they endure the harsh realities of a POW camp, leaning on the assistance of fellow prisoners to uphold their precarious charade. Their predicament is dire; discovery could spell death for Izabela, Bill, and all those who aided them.
