When Marvel's publisher Martin Goodman asked Stan Lee for a new team book, he could not have predicted they'd create something as influential as The X-Men. This compelling series, co-created by Lee and the visionary Jack Kirby, introduced a novel concept of mutants—individuals born with special powers—who were led by a strict professor, striving to become heroes capable of defending against various threats. Unlike other superheroes who gained their abilities through dramatic accidents, these characters were unique from birth. As they moved on, Werner Roth and Roy Thomas took over the series, building on its solid foundation.
