Tanya Talaga - sylwetka autora
From two decades, she has been a journalist for the "Toronto Star," covering a wide range of topics, including city news, education, national healthcare, international affairs, and Indigenous issues. Her work has earned her five nominations for the Michener Award in the category of public service journalism. In 2013, she was part of a team that won the National Newspaper Award for their year-long project on the Rana Plaza building disaster in Bangladesh. Two years later, in 2015, she contributed to a series entitled "Gone," which told the stories of missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls, and received the National Newspaper Award. Talaga is of Polish and Indigenous descent. Her great-grandmother, Liz Gauthier, survived a residential school, and her great-grandfather, Russell Bowen, was an Ojibwe trapper and laborer. Her grandmother is a member of the Fort William First Nation. Talaga resides in Toronto with her two teenage children.
