Krzysztof Jurecki - sylwetka autora
Born in 1960, he is a graduate of art history from Jagiellonian University in Kraków, where he completed his studies in 1985, and pursued doctoral studies at the Institute of Art of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw between 1990 and 1993. Since the late 1980s, he has authored numerous articles in the fields of art history and photography, which have appeared in publications such as "Projekt," "Fotografia," "Obscura," "Obieg," "Student," "Format," "Art&Business," and "Arteon." He has been a regular contributor to "Kwartalnik Fotografia" since 2000 and "Exit" since 1990.
In 1997, he joined AICA, and since 2002, he has been an honorary member of ZPAF. His research interests focus on the history of Polish avant-garde and 20th-century photography, including the history of surrealism, German photography of the 1950s, and American photography post-World War II. He has authored books such as "Fotografia polska lat 80." published by ŁDK in Łódź in 1989, and "Słowo o fotografii," co-authored with K. Makowski, published by ACGM Lodzart SA in Łódź in 2003. He collaborates with the Polish Scientific Publishers (PWN) and the Adam Mickiewicz Institute in Warsaw.
From 1985 to 2005, he worked at the Museum of Art in Łódź, serving as head of the Department of Photography and Visual Techniques from 1998 to 2005. As a curator, he has been involved in numerous exhibitions, including "Zmiana warty. Młoda fotografia polska" alongside K. Cichosz in 1991, "Edward Łazikowski. Prace z lat 1979-1998" in 1998, "Zofia Rydet. Fotografie (1911-1997)" in 1998, and several others. Since 2005, he has been a lecturer at the Higher School of Art and Design in Łódź and has been teaching at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk since 1997. He has previously lectured at the Higher School of Photography in Warsaw (1992-93), the Academy of Fine Arts in Poznań (1994-96), and the Academy of Fine Arts in Łódź (1994-2005).
