Jan Bober - sylwetka autora
In 1926, Jan Bober served as the district commander of the Political Police in Brzesko, holding the rank of sub-commissioner. Later, he took on the role of chief of the Investigative Office in Nowogródek and similarly led the Investigative Office in the Polesia province. Promoted to the rank of chief commissioner, he oversaw the Investigative Office in Brest-on-the-Bug. Following the outbreak of World War II, he was captured by Soviet forces and imprisoned in the Ostashkov camp. In the spring of 1940, he narrowly escaped death, finding himself among nearly 400 prisoners who survived the NKVD's three special camps: Kozelsk, Starobelsk, and Ostashkov. He was subsequently detained in several other camps, including Gryazovets. Eventually, Bober made his way to the West with Anders' Army, where he witnessed the end of the war. He settled in the United Kingdom and, in 1971, decided to return to his homeland.
