A devoted supporter of Arsenal London, he was born in 1972. He pursued his education at the National Theatre School in Montreal and later at Trinity College in Toronto. In 2008, he earned a Ph.D. in sociology from the University of Oxford, focusing his research on match-fixing in professional football. Before embarking on a journalism career, he acted in Canadian theaters and appeared in the Indian historical series Bharat Ek Khoj, which is based on a book by Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru. He was also involved in launching the Canadian branch of Doctors Without Borders.
He rose to prominence as an investigative journalist, contributing to the Canadian Broadcasting Company. His programs and articles have been featured on esteemed platforms such as BBC Radio World Service, BBC Radio 4, and "The Guardian." His primary focus has been organized crime, with reports covering topics like the murder of journalists in the Philippines, ethnic cleansing in Iraq, violent disputes in Kosovo, honor killings in Turkey, and pagan religions in Bolivia.
His investigative work has garnered numerous accolades, including the Amnesty International Canada Media Award (2003) and the Canadian Association of Journalists' award for the best investigative radio documentary (2007). His work "The Fix: Soccer & Organized Crime" received the Play the Game Award in 2009 for groundbreaking research and documentation on match-fixing.
