The 10:35 train from Manchester Piccadilly to London Euston is filled with travelers each absorbed in their own reasons for the journey — whether it's work-related, a meeting, a reunion, a vacation, or a fresh beginning. None of them realize that their trip is about to face an unexpected and violent interruption. Holly is excited about starting her dream job, hoping it will make her life smoother, while Jeff is nervously preparing for his first job interview after being unemployed for several months. Coincidentally, they find themselves seated next to each other. Meanwhile, Naz, the onboard customer service assistant, aspires for a future full of greater prospects while he goes about collecting the passengers' trash. Among the rest of the passengers are Nick, feeling overwhelmed by his young, boisterous family; elderly Meg and her partner, about to embark on a walking holiday amidst an uncertain future; Caroline, struggling to balance the demands of her rebellious teenagers and her aging, forgetful mother; and Rhona, unsatisfied with her job and eager to return to her little daughter at home.
