His life has been shaped by fragmented stories and memories passed down through generations. The chilling tale of his aunt Nachcia, who entered the gas chamber holding her daughter, leaves an indelible mark: "This is not a world worthy of living in," she remarked, despite having the option to hand over her child and save herself. Another haunting narrative is that of his aunt Chajtełe, who, fleeing from the Nazis, abandoned her infant in the snow to ensure her own survival. Reflecting on these stories, Goldkorn argues that the experiences of those who endured the Holocaust cannot be judged by ordinary human standards.
