Władysław Boziewicz - sylwetka autora
Captain of the Polish Army, Władysław Boziewicz, was the author of one of the most popular works of the interwar period in Poland — the Code of Honor. Boziewicz hailed from a noble family and pursued legal studies at the Jagiellonian University. However, the outbreak of war in Europe in 1914 interrupted his academic career; he had managed to complete only his coursework before enlisting as a volunteer in the Austrian army. He continued his military progression as a soldier in the newly independent Polish state. Boziewicz's fascination with the origins and history of duelling in his homeland, alongside his sensitivity to breaches of honorable conduct, culminated in the publication of the Polish Code of Honor in 1919. In his lifetime, he reminded his contemporaries that insults and affronts inevitably necessitated the pursuit of honorable satisfaction. The volume saw eight editions over several years, and its enduring popularity underscores Poland's deep-rooted connection to noble culture.
