Robert Conroy - sylwetka autora
American writer Robert Conroy, known for his historical novels, spent much of his life in Detroit. Despite his late start in professional writing, with his first book published at the age of 57, Conroy quickly made a name for himself in the literary world. Before pursuing writing, he held a managerial position at the American branch of Volkswagen. His first four novels were uniquely titled after the years in which their stories unfold.
Conroy's acclaimed novel "1942," set in Hawaii during World War II, was honored with the Sidewise Award for Alternate History. Sadly, Conroy passed away at 76 due to cancer. It is important not to confuse him with Major Robert Conroy, an Irish-Canadian politician who lived between 1811 and 1868.
Among Conroy's notable works are his debut "1901" published in 1995, the award-winning "1942" from 2009, and "Himmler's War" released in 2011, which was later translated into Polish under the title "Ostatnia wojna Himmlera" by Czerwone i Czarne in 2013. He also authored "1920: America's Great War" in 2013 and his final known work, "Germanica," in 2015.
