The English author, primarily recognized for his creation of "Watership Down" and "Shardik," completed his education at Oxford University with a degree in history. During World War II, from 1940 to 1946, he served in the parachute regiments. Later, he pursued a career in public service. In 1972, he published his debut novel, "Watership Down," a compilation of tales he originally told his daughters. The book quickly gained popularity, being translated into 18 languages and selling 11 million copies worldwide. By 1974, Adams retired, dedicating himself entirely to writing. Shortly thereafter, he released "Shardik," which explores the theme of a great bear cult, followed by "The Plague Dogs," focusing on the lives of dogs. The series of animal-themed novels culminates with "The Girl in a Swing," published in 1980.
