Piotr Woźniak (żołnierz AK) - sylwetka autora
A Polish soldier affiliated with the Home Army and the post-war underground was born in Podolia. He completed his education at the H. Sienkiewicz Teacher's Seminary in Tarnopol and participated in the September Campaign. During World War II, he became a member of both the Union of Armed Struggle and the Home Army. After the conflict ended, he briefly served as a teacher at a primary school in Bytom, located in the Silesia region, before being arrested by the Security Office. In 1948, he was sentenced to death twice. However, eight years later, he benefited from an amnesty and was released from prison. In 1982, Piotr Woźniak's memoirs from his time in the prisons of the People's Republic of Poland were first published in Paris. The book, titled "Zapluty karzeł reakcji," was reissued several times. It's important not to confuse him with others of the same or similar name: Piotr Woźniak, the geologist and minister born in 1956, and Piotr Woźniak-Starak, the film producer who lived from 1980 to 2019. He was married to Antonina, known as "Tosia," since 1934, and together they had three sons: Antoni, Jerzy, and Leszek.
