Captain Frederick Marryat, born on July 10, 1792, in London and passed away on August 9, 1848, at Manor Cottage in Norfolk, England, was a notable English writer known for his maritime and adventure-themed novels and stories. As an officer in the British Navy, he took a stand against the system of forced enlistment into the naval service by publishing a pamphlet titled "Suggestions for the Abolition of the Present System of Impressment in the Naval Service." His experiences at sea greatly influenced his later writings. Inspired by Charles Dickens' storytelling style, Marryat is now recognized as a pioneer in maritime literature. Among his most renowned works in Poland are "The Phantom Ship" and "Peter Simple."
