Vedrana Rudan - sylwetka autora

Before the last war in the Balkans, Vedrana Rudan was employed at a radio station where she was responsible for producing satirical broadcasts. By profession, Rudan is a journalist. Currently, she writes columns for Croatia's largest weekly magazine, "Nacional," under the unified title "Złośliwostki i nowalijki." The primary focus of these pieces revolves around the social dynamics in her country, particularly the interactions between women and men.

In 2002, Rudan's book "Ucho, gardło, nóż" caused quite a stir in Croatia. Critics, with a touch of envy, labeled it as "a literary circus filled with venomous clichés crafted by a fascist." Despite the controversy, this debut novel achieved significant success across the former Yugoslavia, being published in both Croatia and Serbia. Rudan's second novel, "Miłość od ostatniego wejrzenia," was nominated for Serbia's most prestigious literary award. Following this, she released another book that compiles some of her finest columns.
