Margaret Mahy - sylwetka autora
A New Zealand author, Margaret Mahy graduated from Auckland University College, Canterbury University College, and the New Zealand Library School in Wellington. She initially worked as a librarian while also writing novels for both children and adults in her spare time. By 1980, she dedicated herself entirely to her literary career. Her children's fantasy novella, "The Haunting," won the prestigious Carnegie Medal in 1982. She achieved similar acclaim two years later with the young adult fantasy novel "The Changeover." This novel was translated into Polish 23 years later. Recognizing her contributions to literature, Margaret Mahy was awarded the Order of New Zealand. Some of her notable works include "A Lion in the Meadow" (1969), "The Railway Engine and the Hairy Brigands" (1973), "The Haunting" (1982), "The Changeover: a Supernatural Romance" (1984, Polish edition: "Przemiana," Skrzat Publishing, 2007), "The Girl With the Green Ear: Stories about Magic in Nature" (1992), "Alchemy" (2002), and "The Margaret Mahy Treasury: Eleven Favourite Stories from the Marvellous Margaret Mahy" (2011).
