She is a professor at the Department of Mammalian Development and Stem Cell Biology at the University of Cambridge, where she leads a lab within the Department of Physiology, Development, and Neuroscience. Additionally, she holds the Donald Bren Professorship in the Division of Biology and Bioengineering at Caltech, where she established her own laboratory in September 2019. She is also a research fellow at Sidney Sussex College and a recipient of a Wellcome Trust fellowship. With several patents in medical diagnostics and treatment to her name, she has published approximately 150 articles and book chapters in leading journals such as "Nature," "Science," and "Cell."
