Kenneth Oppel - sylwetka autora

I was born in 1967 in Port Alberni, a small town known for its mill on Vancouver Island, British Columbia. However, I spent most of my childhood in Victoria, B.C., and later in Halifax, Nova Scotia, located on the opposite coast. When I was about twelve, I developed an aspiration to become a writer. Before that, I had considered careers in science and architecture. I initially wrote science fiction epics during my "Star Wars" phase, then transitioned to crafting tales of swords and sorcery inspired by "Dungeons and Dragons." At fourteen, during a summer break, I began writing a humorous story about a boy obsessed with video games, reflecting my own interest in them at the time. This project evolved into a short novel, which I revised the following summer.

A family friend acquainted with Roald Dahl, one of my favorite authors, offered to show him my story. I was thrilled beyond words. Although I didn't hear directly from Roald Dahl, he read my work and appreciated it enough to forward it to his literary agent. I received a letter from the agent expressing interest in representing me and attempting to sell my story, which they successfully did.
