Alvin Schwartz - sylwetka autora
American writer and journalist, Schwartz, authored more than fifty books focusing on folklore and wordplay, with a significant portion intended for young readers. Following his naval service, he developed an interest in writing. He earned a bachelor's degree from Colby College and went on to complete a master's in journalism at Northwestern University. From 1951 to 1955, he contributed to The Binghamton Press. Throughout his writing career, his works were released by various publishers, such as Lippincott, Bantam Books, Farrar Strauss, and Harper Collins. He is best remembered for the "Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark" series, which consists of three volumes illustrated with chilling imagery by Stephen Gammell. This series was the most frequently challenged book collection in American libraries between 1990 and 1999. Schwartz passed away from lymphoma in Princeton, New Jersey, on March 14, 1992, just six weeks shy of his 65th birthday. He was survived by his wife and four children.
